Sunsets Portfolio

Sunsets. Each one is so different, yet so many pictures of them are so cliche. The real challenge is in seeing them in a new light. Creating images that are different and exciting.

All day long we view the world in cold, blue light. Our eyes adjust to the color and we see it as "normal." Then for a few brief moments at the end of the day everything changes. The color palette of the world shifts to the warm side of the spectrum. Psychologically, warm is inviting, it draws us in, it is captivating. If nothing else it is different than what we see all day long.

While a sunset where the entire sky changes to a strong red or orange is nice, I am drawn even more to those with a strong color shift within the sky. A small band of red and a shift from that to a strong blue above it. The color contrast I find very interesting. It becomes more than "just another sunset." It becomes art, Gods art, and I just happen to be lucky enough to capture and share it.
